THE EDISON COLLECTION

Ever Since I was a young boy 6 or 7 years of age I was always fascinated with electricity. My father was an electrician and I was often carted off from job to job rewiring houses and fixing lights. The speed at which everything works always fascinated me and truth be told still does to this day! To think you can just flick a switch and have a reaction so instantaneously really blows my mind!

I progressed into a career in Engineering and furthered my understanding of how everything worked. I was still always so interested in the old-fashioned filament light bulbs which Edison discovered.

Thomas Edison was an American inventor and businessman. He developed many devices in fields such as electric power generation, mass communication, sound recording, and motion pictures. These inventions, which include the phonograph, the motion picture camera, and early versions of the electric light bulb, have had a widespread impact on the modern industrialized world.

I remember reading a story about a bulb being found in dingy café in Paris that apparently has been lighting for over 100 years. From this burgeoning interest I decided to try and make a range of lights which incorporated my other love of recycling and sustainability. I decided to recycled copper pipe to try and showcase the beauty of these bulbs. I also incorporated a dimmer switch which truly brings the bulb to life! Edison is somewhat of a hero of mine and what a more fitting way to name the collection after him!
